Taxpayers for Tom

"Our aim is to make tax collecting a declining industry"

Tom's Pillars

Fiscal Responsibility

The pillars from Tom’s inaugural campaign of 2016 are still the basis for what drives his involvement and activities today. Tom has been your loyal watchdog guarding your hard-earned money on the City Council and as a grassroots organizer. Tom realizes tax dollars belong to the taxpayers as their rightful property and government only transfers resources to provide services at the direction of the voters.

Tranparency

Abuse of power and corruption at every level of government must be met by the demands of open and clear governance. During his six years on City Council, Tom never forgot that he was responsible to the voters. Tom’s record of exposing questionable stealth land deals involving tax dollars, dubious political appointments, and irresponsible spending is long and well documented.

Rule of Law

John Adams said we are “A nation of laws, not of men.” All authority must adhere to a system that avoids the arbitrary exercise of power as was unfortunately on display during the pandemic including (some would say especially) in St. Louis County. Tom realizes this culture begins with the behavior of elected officials. For example, Tom quickly recognized a need for lawful proceedings during City Council deliberations in 2016, and built consensus for a city-run workshop to train council members and staff on Robert’s Rules by a professional parliamentarian. Rule of Law is the vital foundation for a self-governing people, and Tom believes, like our Founders, that all of our rights flow from natural law.
